- Who registers my domain name and who will own it?
Global Presence will register your domain name, but you will have full control and authority over the domain. You will be listed as the owner, administrative, and billing contact. Global Presence will be listed as the technical contact.
To prevent administrative and billing problems in the future, please keep your contact information for your domain name current.
- Will I need to pay Registrar Fees for the domain or will Global Presence pay for it?
Global Presence can register domain names on your behalf for up to 10 years initially. The customer and owner of the domain name will be responsible for paying the registration and renewal fees for the domain. Any costs implicated by domain registration will be reflected on your first invoice.
- What about trademarks?
Registrars have taken a hands-off approach to handling prior and pending trademark names when registering new domain names. In most trademark cases, an infringement can take place with words that sound similar, are spelled slightly differently, etc. With Network Solutions you can have a trademarked name in your domain and they will register it to you without doing any search. If another party protests your registration Network Solutions will let the courts decide if your domain name could belong to another company/user. Not very good news if you spend lots of time and energy promoting your domain name, only to have someone come out of the woodwork and try to take it. There are several court cases pending that could change how Network Solutions awards domains. For more details, refer to Network Solutions' domain name dispute policy.
- How long does it take to register or transfer a domain name?
Registering a new domain name usually takes 24 hours, however, it can take longer depending on many factors. We suggest you hold off printing your business cards and letterheads until you receive official notice that your domain has been registered.
Network Solutions registered domain transfers usually take 1 to 2 days after the approval by e-mail of the administrative contact of the domain name. If the administrative contact information is outdated, a fax authorization is required and can take up to 14 business days.
Domains registered with other Registrars usually require the owner to modify the domain name at the Registrar's Web site. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
if you need help with your domain name transfer.

- I'm moving my domain to Global Presence. How can I prevent disruption of service for my visitors?
It usually takes 24-72 hours for the new address to update around the globe. Both your old Web site and new Web site will be receiving traffic during the transition time. Our suggestion is that you set up your new Web site as soon as possible using the IP Address we give you. Keep your old site active during the transition.
